Since I have a ton of ideas, it’s hard to keep track (even with twitter, blogs and FB statuses) of what I’m thinking of…I confuse people easily with all I do.
Sooo, what’s in my head as of February 2009?
Going back to school
Since late December this has been on my mind. I’ve researched a few programs and have talked to a few people about one in particular. Basically, I’d like to build my skills as a writer and multimedia specialist…to blend to two. Several people have commented that I have enough skills to just go take some refresher courses and damn the cost of an MFA. I partially agree with them – I’ve got mad skills. But the experience of an MFA can’t be beat. It’s in the back of my head though.
In lieu of not being able to go to school RIGHT at this moment, I’m building up my multimedia journalism skills on my own and garnering the tools and experience of both being a freelance writer and a multimedia specialist to make it successful. If anything, I’ll be building a portfolio of work to present to any MFA program that will eventually have me. Basically, I’m trying to be the change I wish to see in my life.
Starting a Business
This is in the planning phases. I finally started the Ladies Who Launch incubator in Alexandria, Va and let me tell you: I’m energized. If you check out Jordan Multimedia Group, you’ll get an idea of what I’m doing. Of course, knowing me, it may change a lot or a little. If you’re interested and can offer services or work with JMG as a subcontractor, feel free to contact me. I’m also interested in going the “Staff Augmentation” route (i.e., find/fill jobs needing Multimedia specialists) as well as providing training.
I like the idea of creative people with technical skills coming together on a project or projects to provide exactly what the customer needs and then some. I’d even like to learn to explore ways of doing business and working with electrical sources in an eco-friendly way. I’d like to give back to the community by starting a New Media Initiative in the church community – so many of them seem behind when it comes to mixing their message and multimedia.
I’ll be keeping track of my progress on both of these fronts, but if you have anything to add, advice, information on grants/investors, etc, please feel free to comment or email me!

This site is really uplifting. Nice to see you taking that leap of faith that so many of us walk away from. You have taken on the one eyed cyclopes and beaten him hard! Kudos to you.
Noto…you know I’m looking for something to throw at you, right?
