(I got this tip from PostPoints – just an FYI!)
If I had a dollar for every time I got asked about this, I could probably buy a new iPod or two with the proceeds. So, as a reminder: Should you lose the music on your computer due to a hard drive crash, theft or other calamity, you can copy those files back from your iPod to a computer using free or nearly-free utilities. On a Mac, try the free Senuti or on Windows, try the $20-ish shareware Music Rescue. I have had good results with each in multiple tests.
When you’re done, remember to backup your music files from now on, so you don’t need to scrounge around for special programs to save your songs after the next computing mishap.
